Road Rally Archives: Y...M...C...A... (2004)

It looks like we got four generations involved in this rendition of the Village People classic.

Exit polls indicate "interacting with strangers" is the most popular activity with Road Rally teams. so we continue to build more and more interaction in future Road Rallys. We've considered adding "bring a stranger with you to the party" to the Scavenger List in past years, but considered the potential legal hassles too burdensome. Maybe this year??

Road Rally Archives: The Infamous Pool Jumping Incident (2004)

Few stories capture the pure essence of competition and the nature of the Road Rally like this one... last year's Rally had a unique (and apparently challenging) task on the Scavenger List:

Take a photo of a team member and a stranger in a stranger’s pool. One of the two must be using a “floaty toy” in the photo.

Jeremy and The Black Jap Riders found this pool and convinced the owner and his son to join him in the pool. Before his team could snap a photo Jeff's team pulled over, ran and jumped in the pool and took the photo - to Jeremy's dismay. If you look closely you can almost see him saying, "Hey - this is our pool... go get your own!"

But the story only gets better...

About an hour later the man in this photo was pruning his hedges (presumably still in his bathing suit) when he was approached by a somewhat frantic Erik Collins. Before Erik could get a word out the man questioned him, "I'm getting back in the pool again... aren't I?"

A classic Road Rally moment captured on film.
